The Joy of Driving

6/25/2015

Atlantic Autowerks Ltd. specializes in BMWs and MINIs because we love the passion the manufacturers of those cars put into their engineering, and the joy you get when driving them. You can see on our Specials page that we reward those drivers who share our passion with discounts for parts and labor if you are a member of either the BMW or Mini Car Club of America. We thought we'd take this opportunity to explain why we do that.

Pat of the reason is obvious when you read the background of the individuals who work for you at Atlantic Autowerks. All of the staff here has extensive experience in auto mechanics, especially co-owners Bob Brochu, President, and Terry Baker, Vice President. Their work in auto mechanics began back in the 70s.  And while both have expertise in BMWs, it's Terry who wears his passion on his driving gloves for the finely tuned engineering of the German automaker.

Terry bought his first BMW in 1970, and in the same year co-founded the BMWCCA National Capital Chapter. And over the years, he has competed in autocross driving a modified '99 BMW 323i and a MINI Cooper.

Is it any wonder we offer discounts for membership in the BMW and MINI Car Clubs of America? We love to drive finely tuned machines, and so do our customers. So we encourage membership in these clubs to get the most out of your car and your driving enjoyment. The Tidewater Chapter, the seventh oldest chapter of BMW CCA, covers the Virginia Beach, Eastern Virginia and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It typically hosts 20 events during the year, including driving events, naturally, and tech sessions, but also socials., dinners ad charity events.

If you've been thinking of joining the BMW CCA, this would be a good time to do it. The national club is holding it's annual celebration of everything BMW, Octoberfest, this fall in New Jersey, an easy drive for us. The 46th Annual BMW CCA Oktoberfest presented by Michelin. The New Jersey Chapter will host the event at the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club, with trackside action at Absecon, NJ and the New Jersey Motorsport Park. The event runs Sept. 21-27.

It's a great social event, but it's also a great driving event. The street driving events and Oktoberfest's signature rallies return, and so does the Bridgestone Autocross. Track drivers will have access to the two modern and challenging tracks of the New Jersey Motorsport Park circuits. The first track, the 2.25 Thunderbolt Raceway, is a challenging circuit, with a half-mile straightaway, a dozen corners, and paddock space covering 40 acres.

NJMP's second corse, the northern Lightning Raceway circuit, is a fast course covering 1.9 miles  with 10 corners, a number of elevation changes, and a 20-acre paddock. The NMMP's facilities will hold four days of of high-performance driver education clinics and club racing for BMW CCA attendees.

There are the social events, of course, including a golf tournament, special dinners and the always popular biergarten. It's a great time to share with fellow enthusiasts the joy and thrill of owning and driving a BMW.

Some people choose their cars  to be a convenient commute to work, a way to get to the store for groceries. Our customers do the same. But many of those customers take a special pleasure and thrill when the weekend comes around and it's time to really drive.

That's why we we're committed at Atlantic Autowerks to keeping your highly engineered auto finely tuned. That's also why we give special discounts to those of you who are members of BMW and MINI CCA. You share our passion for driving.
